Haggis the highland cow
Haggis’s progress has been a bit hampered recently due to summer holidays & loads of birthdays but I’m still crocheting away when I have a spare minute
His foot base design and horns have been sorted for a while, it’s been his hairy body that’s taking the time… So many tendrils to work…. up & down & around….
I was doing so well…. until last night! I have realised that I’ve positioned the slip stitch leg gaps in the tendrils too far apart & Haggis would look very strange indeed with legs on either side of his body! Arrrrrrrrh!! So now I’m going to have to rip back over 100 tendrils to the start of the slip stitch leg gaps to re-position them closer together
For a split second I was so tempted to just carry on regardless…. but I know It would bug me every time I look at him so I’m going to be brave and just rip back all that work. It will be worth it I’m sure
& don’t forget there’s a chance to win a copy of the finished pattern… all you have to do is leave your suggestions to the questions on the competition page…. go on have a go!

How about Leonard or Lionel? I just love amigurumi, but I am not very good at making my own patterns…
“Mane-ard”
He’s cute!
Looks like a girl to me. I like “Leona”.
How about Hairy Manelow!
Leticia for a girl?
Or Lincoln for a boy?
Zodwollop via Ravelry suggested….
How about Leilani and Leopold?
Rory or Roary
Paws
Huggy
Kelano – start of Kelly end of Fiona !
(Grand children of Ian and Diana Linklater)
LOL!!! How cute!!! I would name him ‘juicy juice’ cause he has the same coloring as the kiwi-strawberry drink!
His very handsome
Leo is a great name! How’s about a Luke? Loretta for a girl LOL
Can hardly wait to see how he turns out!
helen
How about ‘Andy’, short for Androcles the famous lion, who had something in his paw, which was removed by a famous hero who earned the lion’s lifelong thanks!
Dad
Hi Fiona – loved it – no sure who he looks like!!!
Going to StFX on Sat to attend grandson Robert’s Graduation (Sunday) and home again on Monday. Will be in touch after I get home. Love Catherine
How about Sonny, his head looks like a big sun.
S/he is great, I love the finished critter you have posted on Ravelry.
Names? for a Rainbow Lion (Regenbogen Lowe), not great on names.
Shombay (m) – it is a Swahili name that means ‘walks like a lion’. I thought an african name would be appropriate for a lion.
He definitely looks like a Liberarche to me. Simply gorgeous.
Liberarche!
Marley. His picture on Ravelry reminds me of dreadlocks, hence named after the reggae singer.
I love it! I saw the cute little guy on Ravelry (that one looks like a guy at least).
First thing that popped into my head was Marlion (pronounced Marley-on) cause he looked like a fun lovin rasta lion ala Bob Marley.
Could make it a girl name as Marlia. Cute whatever the name!
I agree with Paula and Share. He looks like a peace-lovin’ Rasta lion.
I was thinking Clinton, named after George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic. When I saw the mane and all of its lovely colors…it reminded me of his hair, all dreadlocked and multicolored.
If the Clinton name may get misconstrued as a political gesture you could always call it Georgie- which is ideal for a boy or a girl.
Thanks for sharing the naming option with all of us. I got wind of it through Ravelry.
Well he makes me think of Parsley the lion!
However (trying to be original) I also suggest Timbo (not quite sure why……)
he looks really cute on ravelry!
How about “King Kool Kauni”
since he is the king of the jungle…
The first name that came to mind after seeing it on Ravelry – Hendrix!
He has an H.R. Pufnstuf / Sid & Marty Krofft quality about him — I think he is definitely “Ludicrous Lion”!
Love the lion…I had thought of Rory for the Girl (but I see that I was not the first!) But how about…G-r-r-r-oovy!
I think the lion looks like a Rosta…….. Rosta Fiorress.
Norbert.
I have no idea why. That’s just what came to me.
Now for a girls name…..
Norberta? LOL
